Frequently Asked Questions
Do you treat perimenopause?
A thousand times yes! Perimenopause is a time of significant symptomatology, and early treatment initiation can help prevent bone loss and reduce your long term risks of chronic diseases.
Am I too young for MHT?
There isn’t a specific age cutoff for using MHT. If your symptoms are consistent with perimenopause, and we’ve ruled out other causes, a trial of MHT is reasonable.
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance. Breaking out of an insurance-based care model allows me to provide personalized, tailored treatment without the rush of a traditional practice.
Patients may use HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost of their visits.
You may also request a superbill to provide to your insurance company for reimbursement.
See more here about seeking reimbursement from your insurance company.
How much do visits cost?
Initial visits are $450; follow up visits are $225.
Please see the Investment tab for more details.
Do you provide telehealth visits? Are telehealth visits limited to residents of certain states?
My office is conveniently located in downtown Haddonfield, NJ, a short drive from Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Moorestown, Collingswood and Haddon Township.
For those who live farther afield or simply prefer the convenience of a virtual visit, initial and follow up visits may be performed via telehealth.
I am licensed to practice in New Jersey, and regulations require telehealth patients to be physically located within New Jersey at the time of care. You do not have to be a resident of New Jersey to become a patient.
For patients receiving testosterone, federal law mandates in person visits every 180 days.
Can I use my insurance for labs and prescriptions?
Yes.
What if I have Medicare or Medicaid?
Due to the cash-based nature of my practice, Federal and State regulations prohibit me from providing care to Medicare and Medicaid patients at this time.
Will my medications be expensive?
Generally no. Many of the treatment options I recommend come in a generic formulation.
Some medications are still on-brand and may be more costly. We can work on ways to save by using alternate pharmacies.
Do you recommend hormone pellets?
No. Hormone pellets are not FDA-regulated medications. Additionally, hormone pellets often contain high doses of hormones which can lead to significant side effects.
What about bioidentical hormones?
It’s important to remember that “bioidentical” is simply a marketing term. All of the FDA approved hormone therapies I prescribe are identical to the hormones your body produces.
Do you provide gynecologic or other primary care?
No. Magnolia Midlife is not a gynecology practice, and you are required to maintain care with a primary care physician or gynecologist.
Do you perform physical examinations?
Yes, I will perform a brief physical exam to rule out other causes of symptoms. If indicated an external pelvic exam will be performed.
